Sports Report - Year 10 Boys Football
This evening the boys travelled to BCA to play Haygrove in the final of the boys competition knowing a good performance was needed against a team they had lost 6-1 to previously. The game started well with B Cooper, T Luke and C Frost linking well before C Frost shot wide. An injury to the unfortunate B Cooper meant he could play no further part in the game meaning a reshuffle with A Sampson introduced. Chilton fell behind as a cross into the box caused confusion with a Haygrove attacker nipping in to score from close range. The lead was soon doubled as Haygrove counter-attacked with pace to finish a fine move with a well taken goal. The boys didn't give up and shortly before half-time a fine pass from C Frost saw T Luke race away to finish with ease to reduce the arrears at the break.
The 2nd half continued to be an even contest however the elements changed and Chilton found themselves pinned in by a very strong wind. Chances were few and far between as the defence of H Huett, A Francis, A Attwood and H Morgan worked tirelessly to close down space and clear their lines. In midfield R Henderson, J Salter and F Henderson pressed and worked from box to box putting in a real shift. With the game edging away, Chilton were unlucky when shots from T Luke and C Frost went close to levelling the scores. With only minutes remaining Haygrove clinched the game with another fine break at pace as a tiring Chilton couldn't back to stop the shot making the final score 3-1 to Haygrove.
The boys can be incredibly proud of their efforts this evening and will look to bounce back next year. Man of the match was shared by A Attwood and A Francis for excellent defensive performances.
