Sports Report - Year 10 Boys Football

Today our year 10 boys footballers played in the first round of the County Cup against West Somerset College.

Chilton initially lacked a little composure on the ball and this meant WSC enjoyed some early possession. Eventually Chilton managed to keep the ball on the floor and played some good football and looked dangerous with the ball over the top. Eventually Chilton opened the scoring when Owen Mountain finished superbly from a tight angle. He made it 2-0 moments later as a good ball from Ash Higgins allowed him a one on one with the goalkeeper which he calmly slotted away. Now Chilton were well in control of the game and soon led 3-0 with Mountain completing his hat trick after Jack Francis showed some intricate footwork to beat the defender before lobbing a cross to the unmarked Mountain who volleyed home superbly. Chilton missed a load of chances before WSC pulled one back with a superb solo goal. Chilton however managed to score a fourth and it was Owen Mountain once again who was in the right place at the right time to slot it home. Half time 4-1.

The second half saw more of the same from Chilton, some superb link up play from all of the side was too much for WSC and chance after chance was created and missed. Ash Higgins got himself deservedly on the score sheet to make it 5-1. Jack Francis got on the score sheet as well showing great composure in front of goal after a superb ball over the top from Harrison Hambly. Owen hadn't scored for 8 minutes so decided to make it 5, clinically dispatching the ball home from close range to make it 7-1. Plenty more chances came and went before WSC scored a scrappy goal with 30 seconds to go.

A superb team performance and some really good standout performances, Harrison Hambly controlled the game, Olly Manchip was superb at the back, Travis Knapp commanded his area well, Cameron Richardson worked tirelessly to name a few but man of the match goes to Owen Mountain.
