Sports Report - Year 10 Vs King Alfred's Rugby

After an impressive start Chilton ran two tries within the opening stages. Things become stale after King Alfred’s put in some impressive tackling and running the ball at the Chilton back line to grab a hand onto the game.

Layton pounced on the ball to gallop through several defenders to put the ball down just wide of the posts setting the kick up nicely for Brooklyn C to take the kick.

With some suspect refereeing from the inexperienced Mr Pickering who was trying to keep the King Alfred’s pack in the game after Cory B and Harry H were menacing in the set piece. This led to King Alfred’s playing a passage of the game inside the 22 of the Chiltons half.

After an impressive turnover from Harry H and a gallop up field this set the platform for Travis L to score under the posts.

After a successful conversion Brooklyn C started to encourage the boys to work hard, play from deep and to clear out with venom in the contact area it made the boys work that little bit harder.

Harley H continued to put in some impressive cover tackles to stop the King Alfred’s attack dead. Resulting in a dominate carry upfield from Big Cory B and a quick ball from the break down provide a solid platform for Brooklyn C to go over for his second try of the game.

With the wind blowing in and the rain starting to poor, Mr Pickering's hair started to look thinner and thinner as he ran around with his little white match sticks legs and his £1 Guilet from primark.

The boys were kept encouraged with support from ex pupil and now PE Teacher / History Teacher Mr Butt and Miss Callister cheering from the side line and with a surprise visit from Mr William-Powlett.

With a weather affected second half things started to become difficult with Chilton spending a large majority of time in their own half only to concede 1 try. After consistent pressure from King Alfreds  there number 12 ran in from a distance.

It was soon expressed how Chilton felt about this, after Big Harry H put in a monster carry to seek himself in lost territory over the try line. A fantastic effort from the tight head who is with the Bristol Rugby academy. Soon after the train come charging through with Cory B storming down to the corner to score his second of the game. Not long after Brooklyn C took a quick penalty and a lovely floated pass to Romano H to dip the ball down in the corner.

To conclude the game King Alfred’s went in for their second try to make the score 50-14. An impressive first game for the Chilton Year 10s.

Congratulations to all involved.
