Sports Report - Year 11 Rugby
The Year 11 boys rugby team entertained King Alfred's this evening and put in their best performance to date. The boys made a great start as after a series of drives from H Hodge, P Warren and D De Pina the ball was spread wide to B Cooper who scored in the corner. Having forced KAS into touch 40m from their try line Chilton put together a well rehearsed lineout driving maul that saw D De Pina sprint clearuin-opposed to score under the posts. Chilton continued to dominate with C Brunskill, H Hodge and P Warren winning the ruck areas and K Henson distributing well to the dangerous backs. The boys went further ahead when a break from CJ Lee saw J Searle surge through a big gap to feed B Cooper who scored in the corner once again. With Chilton defending brilliantly KAS struggled to made any breaks into our half, this pressure resulted in H Dawson steeling the ball and the ball was moved wide by H Huett to B Cooper who powered through to complete his hat-trick. At half-time Chilton led 24-0.
The 2nd half saw Chilton continue to dominate however KAS kept up their work rate and stopped Chilton scoring tries with good last ditch tackling near the touch line. With the lineout and scrum going well Chilton had a lot of possession and from this D De Pina ran hard off-loading to J Searle who sprinted through a small gap to score under the posts. With both teams tiring handling errors crept unto the game however K Henson took advantage to charge down a clearing kick to score his first ever try (against Kaylun in the garden doesn't count in my eyes) to make the final score 36-0 to Chilton.
In a fine all-round performance man of the match went to B Cooper who took his try scoring chances well under pressure.
