Sports Report - Year 9 Boys Rugby
The Year 9 Boys Rugby team played a friendly fixture against Brymore this evening looking to avenge their narrow loss before Christmas. First day back the boys all had kit and with a big squad chosen and only 16 places available Marley Hill and Harvey Sussex were unfortunate to miss out but will be back in the squad for the final.
The game began with Chilton controlling possession and after great work by the forwards W Stevens forced his way over in the corner. With A Hodge running the game from scrum half Chilton looked to vary their attack through both the powerful forwards and fast back line. A Hodge took advantage of a loose ball and stormed over the line to increase the lead to 12-0. A miscommunication from a scrum saw Brymore reduce the arrears to 12-7 at the break.
The 2nd half saw Chilton take control and with the whole team tackling well and pressurising Brymore into mistakes it wasn't long before we scored again as A Higgins stormed over the line after more good work from the forwards. Chilton began to take control and further trys from A Higgins and L Randle (2) saw Chilton run out 38-7 winners against a strong Brymore side. In a much improved performance all the players put in good performances with A Hodge, W Stevens, K Escott, E Krupovic and L Randle putting in their best efforts to date. Man of the match was shared between A Higgins and D Warren who led in both attack and defence for the whole game.
