Sports Report - Year 9 Boys Rugby
The Year 9s hosted BCA in their first game of the season and came away with a close victory in an entertaining encounter. BCA started well and scored two early tries to take a 12-0 lead as Chilton's failure to stop their runners making metres allowed the opposition to take control. From that moment the boys hard working attitude and togetherness shone as they gradually fought back. Sam W and Jack B scored fine tries with hard runs which BCA couldn't cope with to leave Chilton trailing by 2 points at half-time.
The 2nd half started evenly until BCA broke away to score a converted try, this spurred Chilton into action and Jack R broke from a scrum to narrow the gap once again to 2 points. The boys took control and soon took the lead when Sam W scored in the corner to give Chilton a 3 point lead. BCA never gave up and fine tackling from Josh S, Logan C and Jack R kept them at bay close to the line. With only seconds remaining Chilton ran the ball from deep with Jack B and Luke B making ground before Archie D scored in front of the post to make the final score Chilton 29 v 19 BCA.
Both teams played the game in great spirit and worked hard in an entertaining contest. Coach Mr Payne was pleased with the teams effort and the way they took control of the game in the 2nd half.
