Sports Report - Year 9 Rounders

The year 9's had their third tournament of the season tonight, held at King Alfreds. We tried to get out of school and through the ridiculous roadworks to arrive at Highbridge first to avoid playing Haygrove. The attempted rush didn't pay off as their game against KAS had already started when we arrived.

We had a good warm up while Havgrove beat KAS 5.5-4.

We batted first and poor Alice was out first ball to a catch. NOT a sign of things to come. The girls batted and ran really sensibly, bashing the ball around all areas of the field unpredictable for the Haygrove fielders.

Ewelina-2, Angeline-2, Alesha-1, Charlotte-1, Jazz-0.5, Ferne-0.5, Aimee-0.5, Jess-0.5. A very respectable 8.

Haygrove were unable, on most occasions to hit our quality bowling from Morgan. They scored a couple of rounders and sneaked 4 halves. 1 rounder was given away in no balls, due to random gusts of wind across the field. Not to worry, we smashed Haygrove in our first game 8-5. Whoop whoop.

Game two against the hosts saw us bat first. We were on fire with our hitting, jammy running and taking full advantace of KAS fielding mistakes.

The girls were outstanding with their batting, Tiff-3, Angeline-2.5, Alesha-2, Alice-1.5, Ewelina-1, Ferne-1, Charlotte-0.5, Vicky-0.5 Jazz-0.5.

King Alfs managed to squeeze 3.5 rounders out of us, but that included 1.5 in no balls and a half for obstruction. Our fielding was tight and accurate. Jazz was excellent positioned between second and third.

Another lovely evening spent with the girls who were supportive to each other, making quality and informed decisions and gracious in their success. Well done girls. It was a joy to spend time with you.
