Sports Report - Year 9 Rounders Tournament

Tonight Blake hosted the year 9 tournament. The girls were really keen to play as they won the last tournament and wanted to prove that their training and determination had paid off.

Our first match got underway against our Nemesis Haygrove. We batted first to set a target for them to catch, and a target it was! scoring 5 from the first 10 balls we were on a roll. Two more were scored to make a very respectable 7 to catch. Haygrove had met their match today, Summer bowled so fast they barely connected with the ball scoring just two whole and 2 half rounders. First scalp to us, 7-3. WHOOP WHOOP!

Second game v Blake. They chose to bat first which threw us, they scored off a huge hit on the first ball and it didn't look good. Half rounders were given away from no balls and an obstruction and they scored 2.5 more for a total of 5.5 rounders. Not a high score, but challenging enough. Our girls pulled it out of the bag with their batting, superb hitting and sensible running saw us whip passed their score for 11. Great game!

Game 3 King Alfreds. We batted first and scored on 12 out of 20 balls for a total of 10.5 rounders. The girls were on fire. KAS didn't stand a chance, they scored 2 halves and were given 2 halves on no balls. Another storming win 10.5 -2.

Final game v BCA. The girls knew that some players from BCA could be unpredictably good so needed to focus on their fielding to prevent any silly mistakes. However, BCA only managed to score a meagre 3.5. Chilton girls batted their hearts out, full rounders came flying from everywhere, I can't tell you how brilliant the girls were, mostly sensible (and some chancy) running, great calling from the side lines and amazing team spirit brought the final game to a close 13.5 to 3.5

The girls were a pleasure to spend time with tonight, they have bonded as a team and have worked really hard on their game. I even overheard an opposition student say, they are so good, they must practice loads!
