Sports Report - Year 9 Rugby

Despite the best efforts from interim manager Mr Butt, the boys were clearly missing the inspirational, talismanic figure of Mr Payne and were soon 12-0 down against a hungrier Blake side. A misplaced pass then led to a kind bounce for the Blake centre who stormed past a flailing Chilton defence to score and with the score sitting at 17-0 it was time to go over some of the basics between the opposition’s conversions. This led to an improvement in the defence and even the odd break into the opposition half.

In the second half Chilton tired and Blake scored two more tries to end convincing winners. To their credit the boys never gave up and captain Jack Baker was held up on the try line which proved to be the best play of their day.

A lesson perhaps though for the year 9 boys that they need to practice and do the extra work to be able to achieve results.
