U16 Girls Football Final
Last night the U16 girls football team travelled to BCA to play in the Sedgemoor Area final. In a mixture of seasonal weather, the girls started well and negated a strong BCA attack expertly. This allowed Chilton's pace on the counter attack to cause BCA lots of problems. Zoe Mizon was a constant threat and forced the goalkeeper into many clearances and saves when through one on one. Maddie Hellard opened the scoring with a fierce strike with her right foot, giving the goalkeeper no chance as Chilton took a deserved lead. BCA hit the post from close range but from further investigation it turned out to be a brilliant save from Ava Scobie. Half time 1-0.
The second half saw Chilton dominate for long periods again and miss more chances. Summer Hellard and Ewelina Tzcazyk were superb in midfield covering lots of metres for their team. Lucy Williams started to control things more and got a hold of the game, causing BCA lots of problems however BCA started to push forward and created some good chances of their own. Lemuella Masunda and Millie Rawle exceptional in defence, aided by Grace Lowe as well. With four minutes to go BCA scored at the back post to make it 1-1. Chilton had one more glorious chance to win the game but it was again saved by the BCA goalkeeper. Full time 1-1.
Extra time was agreed and five minutes each way as neither team wanted to end a great game so far(!) on penalties. BCA scored from a corner, an absolute screamer of a volley that gave Scobie no chance. As Chilton pushed on in the second half BCA picked off the gaps and another volley hit the post and rolled in. Full time after extra time 3-1.
A harsh result overall, the girls put in a brilliant shift.
