Year 11 Boys Football
The Year 11 Boys played the final of the Sedgemoor Area against BCA in their final school football fixture. BCA started the brighter and capitalised on a defensive mistake to take an early lead. Chilton fought back immediately and from a good free kick delivery from C Frost the boys levelled as B Cooper powered home a header. Chilton began to take control with A Francis causing problems down the right and L Lemaitre and C Frost dominating midfield. They soon took the lead as B Cooper escaped him marker to slot home from the edge of the box. Despite dominating Chilton couldn't make the final pass or shoot accurate enough to take advantage and pull away. A mix up between A Attwood and J Legg in goal led to a BCA equaliser just before half-time to leave it even at the break.
The 2nd half saw Chilton play with more composure as J Salter, H Huett and A Attwood defended well with W Andrews, A Francis and B Cooper a constant threat in attack. Chilton took the lead when W Andrews followed up to take advantage of a BCA goalkeeper error to make it 3-2. The introduction of H Morgan and F Henderson gave Chilton a solid defensive shape as they looked to see out the game. On a rare BCA attack J Legg made a fine stop low to his left to keep the lead intact. With BCA gambling with numbers going forward Chilton took advantage as the lively A Francis ran clear to finish coolly with a side foot finish to make it 4-2. The boys continued to battle well with L Lemaitre and R Henderson controlling midfield allowing Chilton to see out the remaining time to finish deserved 4-2 winners.
The boys can be proud of their efforts this year and it was a fitting way to finish their footballing lives at Chilton as worthy winners. The boys would like to thank Mr Lamb for watching the game and C Brunskill and A Kirkpatrick for their assistance from the side lines.
