Year 7 Girls Football
The Year 7 girls took part in their first finals event this evening taking a big squad of 12 players to BCA to play BCA and Haygrove.
In the first game against BCA the girls dominated possession and had several shots on goal. They took the lead when the powerful H Daly fired home from the right. The girls defended brilliantly as K Escott, N Smith and B Hambly tackled well and cleared their lines well. R Clay, L Harris and O Baigent went close to scoring however the game ended 1-0 to Chilton.
Chilton had a break as Haygrove beat BCA 4-0.
With the final game against Haygrove requiring a win the girls went about their business in determined fashion. The defence of H Hambly, K Escott and N smith were well supported by M Dryland-Ward as they kept Haygrove at bay throughout leaving keeper J smith little to do. H Daly showed her growing confidence and shot low into the corner to give Chilton the lead. With attackers O Baigent, L Harris, E Cresswell, R Clay and R Gordon rotating Chilton pressurised Haygrove into mistakes and R Clay took advantage to score a brilliant solo goal. The girls kept their composure and O Curd who took over keeper duties showed good handling as Chilton finished deserving 2-0 winners.
The girls can be extremely pleased with their efforts this year remaining undefeated and improving in every game. The PE team look forward to seeing these girls progress over the next few years.
